Things Are Not Going To Get Any Better
By Mr. Self Development on Oct 25, 2010 in Success, Thoughts
Jonathan is an average guy, he lives in an average house, he drives an average car, and he makes an average income. He has dreams of becoming successful; unfortunately, his dreams will never be realized.
Why?
Because things don’t get any better…
As you may know, I send out a “Success Tip” every Sunday to those of you who have signed-up to receive my success tips.
A few weeks ago I sent out a “Success Tip” titled “Things Won’t Get Better.” I received a few comments asking for more information on this particular tip, so today I want to delve a little deeper into this topic.
Here’s the success tip that I’m referring to:
Success Tip #20: Things Won’t Get Better
“I was talking with my brother this week, and we were discussing growth and progress. I said to him, you know, people think that things will get better in time, but they really won’t. You won’t get any smarter, any richer, any thinner, or any better with time. … you can expect more of the same tomorrow…” …
Things Won’t Get Better
Chances are things won’t get any better for you, or Jonathan, or anyone else. People rarely change; it is the unfortunate regrettable truth. We often say that insanity is doing the same thing over-and-over again, and expecting different results, but nevertheless, we keep on doing the same thing over-and-over again, while expecting different results! According to this definition, most people are insane.
Jonathan’s life isn’t going to get any better, because he’s insane; although Jonathan believes he is working towards a better life, the reality is, “his tomorrow looks very much like his today.”
Can Things Get Better?
If you desire to be in the very elite group of people who actually “get better,” there’s one thing that you have to do.
Let me refer to my “Success Tip #21,” “The Secret to Success.”
I had some questions about this tip as well. A few of you asked if the word “bait” (in the success tip) was a typo…
Let’s take a look at the word “bait” in this quote below from my success tip (this is the word that is in question), and then I will explain how only the individuals who follow this success tip will succeed.
Success Tip #21: The Secret to Success
“The secret of every man who has ever been successful lies in the fact that he formed the bait of doing those things that failures don’t like to do.”
–A. Jackson King
Let me point out that the word bait is not a typo. It is a word that gives us great insight into what Jackson King was saying in his quote above. The word bait means: enticement, temptation, appeal, excitement; it means that you have been lured in.
The only way to success, the only way your life will ever change is if you form the bait of doing things that failures don’t like to do. To change, you have to be enticed by the things that cause success. It’s not enough to just do them (to go through the motions), if you’re not enticed by them, you will not succeed. Why? Because you will eventually stop doing what’s necessary for you to succeed.
If you want to get healthier, there’s only one way to do it, you have to become enticed by working-out and eating right. If you despise it, if you can’t stand it, you will never make lasting progress.
If you want to become rich, you have to become enticed by the game of creating wealth. To be successful, you have to become enticed by the two or three daily tasks that guarantee your success. If it entices you, if it lures you in, if you’re attracted to the things which bring progress, you will make progress.
So the question arises, “How do I become enticed to do what failures don’t like to do?” And the answer is quite simple, you have to create the enticement by taking the time daily to meditate-on and ponder the end-goal.
You do this by taking a few minutes daily to clear your mind and visualizing your intended end-result. If you ponder on something enough; I said, if you ponder on something enough, you will become enticed by it. You will become enticed into doing whatever it takes to manifest what you’ve pondered on. Like a ship headed to the harbor, you will move into the direction of your vision. You will soon do the unthinkable, you will defy the norm, you will make it happen; you will change…
You will be counted among the few, who actually change.
