You Must Bow To The Image
By Mr. Self Development on Apr 16, 2010 in Thoughts
You must bow to the image. What does this mean? This means that the image that you have of yourself, this image, you will surely become. Say it another way, if you see yourself as average, you will remain average, if you see yourself as poor, you will remain poor, and if you see yourself as overweight, you will remain overweight.
You can try to plot and trick “the system,” you can try “get rich quick schemes,” and “rapid weight lose programs,” but they won’t last, and you will finally bow to the image that you possess of yourself.
James Allen said, “The image that you enthrone in your heart, this you will become.” Whether the image is good or bad, ugly or pretty, average or superb, the image that you enthrone, the one that you constantly see (in your mind), this you will become.
This explains why most people never change. It’s not that they’re incapable of change, but they house an image of their current situation, and they are unable to release that image. And so they must humbly bow to the image: The image of average-ness, the image of never-having-enough, the image of an un-happy relationship.
These images, however, are not reflective of their potential. If they could somehow shatter the limiting image, and gravitate towards the image of what they desire, they could alter their lives. In fact, it’s the only way to alter your life.
Shattering the Former Image
You must shatter the old “unwanted” image; recognize that the image is not you. Average-ness is not you. It’s something that you have concocted in your mind, with the help of family members, friends and the media.
You can be whatever you can see; you’re not limited to the accomplishments of your peers, and you’re not restricted by the achievements of your parents. Break free from the invisible box that is holding you captive.
Just because everyone you know is overweight, doesn’t mean that you should be overweight. Just because everyone you know is broke, doesn’t mean that you’re destined for broke-ness. If others can succeed, then anyone can succeed. The question you should be asking yourself is, “Am I producing my very best?” If you are capable of more, than you should be producing more!
If other people can be happy, that’s a sign that you can be happy, and that you should be happy. If other people can be rich, that’s a sign that you can be rich, and that you should be rich.
Creating a New Image
The first step in creating a new image is to make the decision to be who you want to be. Don’t “hope to become,” decide to be! There’s a vast difference between the two. You must be very specific in this decision. Don’t say I want to have a great job, say I will become a doctor in five years. Make a specific decision and write it down.
Step two is to change the way you think. Thoughts precede actions, right thoughts equal right actions; wrong thoughts equal wrong actions. So begin to visualize the new you throughout your day; see the happy you, the sexy you, the intelligent you, the rich you. Keep on thinking this way until your internal image changes. If you fill the clouds with enough rain, it will begin to rain, every time. Put it another way, when you change your thinking, your actions will change. When you believe it’s possible, you will discover ways to make it possible.
In Closing
Make the decision to change today, get specific, consciously change your thinking, this will give you the motivation and the ideas to create the life you want and deserve.
