It’s a Sin to be Poor

Charles Filmore stunned the religious community many years ago when he declared, “It’s a sin to be poor,” and I’m sure this title has “shocked” some folks today. However, I don’t believe Mr. Filmore was referring to sin as a moral indecency.
As a kid, every Sunday I always went to “Sunday School,” and I remember on one particular Sunday the teacher defined “sin” to us. She defined sin as “missing the mark.” I believe this is what Charles Filmore was referring to when he said, “It’s a sin to be poor.” He was saying, to be poor is to “miss the mark” that your creator intended for you to reach.
To “sin” is to miss the original intent, or purpose for your creation.
The truth is, we’re all born to be rich, happy and healthy, and anytime we’re not we’re “missing the mark.”
Don’t buy into the belief that your creator wants you to be poor or that it’s somehow honorable to live a life of poverty and lack.
There’s nothing honorable about poverty!
Poverty breeds: sickness, disease, struggle, frustration, theft and murder.
You may be thinking, hey, I know a rich person whose stolen money, or committed other crimes for money. But the truth is, that person apparently wasn’t rich. They may have had a lot of money, but to be truly rich is to realize that there is no shortage, so there’s never any reason to steal. (Would anyone go around stealing “air,” of course not, because there’s no shortage of “air.”)
To be rich is to realize that you can create as much money as you need, when you need it. It’s a knowing that the river will never run dry. It’s the understanding that wherever the money comes from, it will keep on coming.
Being “rich” is not a certain dollar amount, I’ve said this before, you can be a billionaire and be poor.
If you’re constantly worrying about money …than you’re not rich, you’re poor. It’s the poor who are concerned about money.
I heard Deepak Chopra quote someone saying, “There’s only one class of people that think about money more than the rich, and it’s the poor, in fact, they can think of nothing else.”
Recognize that poverty is not the original intent for your life; don’t spend your life missing the mark that your creator intended for you to reach. To live a life of poverty and barely-get-by is not an accomplishment.
Poverty implies that you’re not contributing a significant amount back to the world, because if you were contributing a significant amount, the universe would reward you for your efforts with prosperity.
It’s your creators’ intent that you make a significant contribution while you’re here. Your creator is the most purposeful being there is. You were created for a reason, and that reason is to give to the world. From this giving comes your prosperity.
You’re just like a seed; you were born with everything you need on the inside of you to succeed. You were born with talents and gifts that can meet all of your desires; you just need to cultivate those talents.
In closing let me say, there’s no reason for you to miss the mark, there’s no reason for you not to live a life of prosperity; don’t settle for less, your creator has provided for you to have the best.
