“Adopt a Lifestyle of Luxury” – Deepak Chopra

I often get comments from people saying they’re not interested in having lots of money because they happen to lead a very spiritual life. They believe money will make them less spiritual, less genuine, or give them additional problems.  They say they want to have a “high-consciousness,” and they don’t want “money” getting in the way.

I think people who think like this are either a little short on honesty, or full of pride.  That’s it, either they:

1. Don’t believe they can create large sums of money so they conveniently excuse themselves from the challenge, or

2. They’re operating under “false humility” (saying, “I don’t need to drive a Mercedes, I’m not a “show-off”) which is a form of pride, which is birth from fear. Fear of what other people will say, and fear of what other people might think. There’s nothing “conscious” or “spiritual” about being filled with pride or fear.

If you really want to be conscious, try being honest with yourself first.  You know that a Mercedes is better than a Kia Sophia. If you really believe that abundance is limitless, there is no reason not to desire the very best.  Are two arms better than one arm?  Then there’s no reason you should want one arm. If you say you’re not interested in the “best,” then you’re lying to yourself.  Get over it, and start truly living consciously, don’t just talk about it.

Adopt a mentality of limitless abundance; to be truly conscious is to recognize that wealth is limitless.  It comes from ideas, and there isn’t a cap on the number of ideas you can have.

When you have a limitless mentality you will begin to live a limitless life. I’m not talking about spending money that you don’t have. I’m talking about adopting a mind-set of having the best “wherever” you are in life, and committing to grow from there.  Prosperity exists in your mind, it’s a mentality that’s not centered in lack, but in abundance (anyone can have a prosperous mind). When you adopt this mentality you will begin to create real wealth, because you will see the limitless possibilities; soon you will be living the life of your dreams.

Wealth is not a Certain Dollar Amount

You can be a billionaire, but if you’re worried about money, and constantly thinking about it, then you’re not really wealthy.  Wealth is in the mind, it’s a faith that the stream will never run dry. It’s a knowing that wherever the money came from to begin with, it will keep on coming, because you can keep on creating it.

I’ve had traces of a prosperous mentality ever since I as a child; I always had money.  When I was a kid, I always had a few hundred dollars.  When I became a teenager, I always had a few thousand dollars.  I was always able to create money by cutting the neighbors’ grass or babysitting my little cousins, and I always saved a large portion of my profits.  Not that I was rich, …but I always knew that I was capable of creating money with ideas and hard work.

Do Rich People Have More Problems?

Money doesn’t give you additional problems, directly, it only magnifies the problems that you already have.  If you’re a gambler, then money will make you a bigger gambler, the secret is not to eliminate money from your life, but the gambling.

This is truly conscious living!  Facing your problems head-on and growing bigger then they are.  Recognizing that you were born to have the very best, because you are the very best, you are the crown of creation.

You should set your aims high, recognize that no matter how little money you have right now, you have the potential to create as much as you desire.  It begins by accepting the reality of limitless abundance, and believing that you can create a wealthy life.
