The Master Key to Success

Dear Mr. Self Development, what is the Master Key to Success?

Vanessa

In preparing for this article, I researched numerous self development books…I flipped through the pages of books that I’ve previously read, searching for the master key to success…the one secret…

I briefly read through…

…The Magic of Thinking Big, The Power of Now, As a man Thinketh, Turbo Success, The Success Principles and many others…

I was looking for the one key, the golden thread that tied all of the books together, and I found it…What I found will probably surprise you, because it’s not necessarily prolific, or even very profound, it’s quite simplistic even…the key is something that is available to anyone, and it can bring you anything you really want in life, from the right job, to the right body, to the right house, to the right spouse…unknowingly at the time, the master key is how I purchased a 7 bedroom home when I was 24…the master key to success is expressed in just one word:  focus.

Focus, as I’m referring to, is pure undiluted concentration on a given tasks, until the task is accomplished.  It’s focusing your thoughts, activities and resources in one area until you succeed.  It is pure unrelenting determination, to the exclusion of everything else, until you arrive at your intended destination.

Through focus there’s nothing you cannot achieve.  It’s how Lincoln became great, how man landed on the moon, and how Edison invented the incandescent light bulb.

Let me give you an example; let’s say you want to lose 100lbs.  You have two options you can choose from.

Option 1: You Can Try – This option looks something like this: Cutting back on certain foods, working out several times a week, gaining momentum, losing momentum, never really seeing huge gains, eventually giving up, trying again, giving up, trying again and then giving up.

Option 2: You Can Use Focus - This option works like this, imagine you are a general in an army, and you are headed into battle; the battle of “Mount Weight Loss.”  The opposing general has 10,000 troops coming your way.  So what do you do?

You could bring 10,000 troops as well, and try to win the battle…., or you could bring 100,000 troops.  What the military would call overwhelming force……If I’m going into war….and war in this example represents the challenge that you want to overcome, I want to crush the enemy….not just barely beat the enemy.

When most people have a goal they’re trying to accomplish, they give it just enough effort to achieve the goal, and it usually doesn’t work.  In order to succeed, you need to give full effort and full focus.  You need to bring 100,000 troops to battle; this will guarantee your success in any one area of your life.  Don’t play with the challenge, destroy it.

How do you bring 100,000 troops into battle (using this example)? …

By becoming consumed by achieving your goal, you do it by embodying the goal, by emptying your all into the goal.

This means you’re doing everything in your power to achieve it, 100 percent effort.  You’re working out 2 to 3 hours a day, you’re monitoring every single meal you eat, you’re reading books on weight loss, you have your weight loss goals together, you’re talking to your friends about weight loss, you’ve successfully removed all temptations from your environment, you’re seeing yourself healthy, and you’re controlling your thoughts.

You are white hot intense!

You’re saying, I’m concentrating all of my effort into losing weight, I’m NOT bringing 10,000 troops into battle, I’m bringing 100,000 troops, I’m not playing with this challenge, I’ve played with it for too long, I’ve gone around the mountain for to long, I’m coming out.  I’m getting all of the junk food out of the house, I’m not eating fast food any more, I’m going to write down everything I eat, I’m going to work out consistently, if I make a mistake, I’m getting back on track, I’m going to spend the entire year focused on this one goal, to the exclusion of everything else, I’m rallying all of the troops, I’m calling for a total annihilation of past thinking and past compromises.

With that attitude, I’m here to tell you, you can’t fail…with that attitude failure is impossible…

Instead of trying, you are doing, and you will see results, it’s just a matter of time.  You are not taking no for an answer, you’re not giving up; you’re just going to keep on knocking and knocking with force, until the door falls down.

This is how you take 100,000 troops into battle, and not only will you win the battle, but you will win in spectacular form.

If you’ve ever tried to succeed at something and failed, this article is about digging deep one more time, rallying all the troops, and giving it your all.  If you do, if you use focus, and put in the time, because there are no short-cuts to success, you will achieve your desire.
